About The Position

Meritus Health is seeking a strategic and collaborative Assistant Vice President of Physician Services to provide executive leadership for our physician practices. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, service line growth, and performance across both primary and specialty care practices. The AVP will lead initiatives focused on improving patient access, optimizing financial performance, standardizing workflows, and strengthening provider recruitment strategies. Working closely with clinical and administrative leaders, this position plays a key role in aligning physician practice operations with the health system’s strategic goals for quality, growth, and patient experience. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a healthcare-related field required.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience at an executive or senior management level with demonstrated operational and performance outcomes.
  • Strategic thinking and organizational leadership
  • Financial management and budgeting expertise
  • Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills
  • Ability to influence and engage senior-level stakeholders
  • Excellent written, presentation, and facilitation skills
  • Proven ability to develop teams and foster a motivating work environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead growth initiatives including service line expansion, provider recruitment strategy, access optimization, and market development.
  • Translate health system strategy into measurable operational goals across employed and affiliated physician practices.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align physician practice operations with system-wide priorities.
  • Standardize workflows and clinical operations across primary and specialty care practices.
  • Implement strategies to improve operational efficiency, patient access, and quality outcomes.
  • Drive initiatives that enhance patient experience and improve satisfaction scores.
  • Oversee financial performance, budgeting, and expense management for the medical group.
  • Develop and manage operating and capital budgets for ambulatory services.
  • Identify opportunities to improve revenue cycle performance and optimize financial outcomes.
  • Build high-performing teams through leadership development, accountability frameworks, and coaching.
  • Foster strong collaboration between clinical and administrative leadership.
  • Promote a culture focused on quality, safety, performance improvement, and patient-centered care.
