About The Position

The purpose of this role is to provide strategic direction for underwriting Wholesale portfolios in the Midwest region, ensuring growth and profitability. This role involves managing writing guidelines, underwriting complex new businesses, and offering specialist advice. Additionally, the role is responsible for building and maintaining broker relationships, applying technical expertise, contributing to business results, and staying informed about industry standards and new product introductions. Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite complex insurance risks following the business plan and personal authority to meet business objectives.
• Manage a team of product specialists supporting all channels.
• Ensure ongoing technical development of underwriters in line with staff development plans.
• Apply reinsurance strategy to safeguard the portfolio.
• Adhere to underwriting standards and good practices to minimize risk and maximize efficiency.
• Demonstrate an understanding of market dynamics to drive business performance.
• Establish strong relationships with stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
• Act as a role model and demonstrate good leadership behaviors.
• Contribute to the development of the team's business plan to maximize productivity.
• Support divisional underwriting function in managing talent for future capability.
