About The Position

We are seeking an experienced AWS and Security/Compliance Engineer to optimize cloud infrastructure that supports our mission-critical applications while also managing our governance, risk and compliance (GRC) model. You will play a key role in expanding and continually enhancing our cloud architecture, continuing to implement scalable solutions, and ensuring high availability, security, and performance across the Rubris AWS environments. You will also partner with technology and legal teams to drive and reinforce governance frameworks and strategies.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering.
  • Expert knowledge of AWS services (EC2, ECS/EKS, Lambda, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS, DynamoDB) and Shared Responsibility Model
  • Strong proficiency with Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts.
  • Knowledge of cloud security best practices.
  • Experience in mapping technical controls to regulatory frameworks
  • Proficiency in a scripting or programming language (Python, Go, etc.).
  • Strong troubleshooting and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and cost-efficient AWS architectures.
  • Lead modernization initiatives, including migration to cloud-native services and containerization.
  • Own Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) strategy using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Develop and optimize CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments and reduce downtime.
  • Research and evaluate AWS AI services like Bedrock, Comprehend, and SageMaker.
  • Manage and improve production systems with a focus on resiliency, observability, and automation.
  • Implement monitoring, alerting, and logging using CloudWatch, CloudTrail, EventBridge, etc.
  • Drive incident response, root cause analysis, and preventive actions.
  • Optimize AWS resource usage and costs through monitoring and architectural improvements.
  • Implement and maintain cloud security controls aligned with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with security teams to support compliance (SOC2, ISO27001, etc.).
  • Automate security scanning, vulnerability detection, and policy enforcement.
  • Reinforce governance, security and compliance frameworks across the organization
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on AWS and cloud best practices.
  • Collaborate with DevOps team.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver highly available, scalable solutions.
  • Contribute to long-term cloud strategy, standards, and governance.
