About The Position

Actionable Outcomes (AO) is seeking an AWS Environment Administrator to support our operations within government-owned systems, in furtherance of our mission to fight fraud against the federal government and generally aid proper payment decisions. The AWS environment in question is an established analytics environment that is cohabitated by & co-administered with us & various offices & subsections of the United States Treasury. We require an experienced and reliable individual who can quickly familiarize themselves with this environment and those it interacts with, and assume duties related to monitoring it, improving its existing processes, and supporting the development of additional production-ready resources in the future.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of full-time professional experience administering one or more AWS environments; working within an AWS environment while requesting administrator-level changes is acceptable
  • Full fluency with AWS IAM syntax and familiarity with AWS IAM properties & behavior
  • Full capability with AWS Lambda functions and their features, development, configuration, and integrations with other systems & services
  • Fluency with Python, especially within the context of AWS Lambda runtimes; experience with code obfuscation packages like Pyarmor is a plus
  • Fluency with AWS CloudFormation template syntax; familiarity with AWS Sam is a plus
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident response using AWS CloudWatch Alarms, EventBridge, and SNS
  • Working fluency with git, including features & processes such as rebasing, merge requests, and following branch naming conventions
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian software suite, including Bitbucket and Bamboo, and their usage in managing code changes & deployments in the context of an AWS environment
  • Experience with connecting to & querying both SQL & NoSQL databases in an AWS environment, such as Redshift, Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB
  • U.S. citizenship required

Responsibilities

  • Take code ownership of multiple different CloudFormation stacks containing a wide variety of in-production and highly-available cloud resources
  • Take code ownership of multiple AWS Lambda functions containing custom Python code which serves many business functions including ETL, data transformations, optical character recognition (OCR), API request processing, usage of external APIs, and querying of SQL & NoSQL databases
  • Assume monitoring & reporting tasks related to AWS resource activity, including Lambda invocation rates & errors, file ETL, data summaries, and data distribution & exportation
