Job Purpose The B/R Mechanic operates, installs, repairs and rebuilds boilers, refrigeration systems, and other related systems. This includes but is not limited to: engine rooms, freeze tunnels, steam and condensate systems, boiler treatment systems and water systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 year’s related experience and/or training
  • High school diploma or equivalent or 10 year’s related experience
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • May be required to work any shift, any and all days of the week, or overtime in accordance with production and maintenance schedules.
  • After 2 years operator will be required to pass RETA CIRO certification and maintain Certification every three years.

Responsibilities

  • Start up, operate and shut down of boiler, refrigeration and auxiliary systems.
  • Observes operation, reads gages and instruments, adjusts mechanisms such as valves, controls and pumps to control levels of fluid, pressure and temperature in systems.
  • Maintains equipment by tightening fittings, repacking bearings, replacing packing glands, seals, gaskets, valves, recorders, gages, and cleaning or replacing other components.
  • Communicates with supervisors, and is capable of reading and understanding operating instructions, logs, and technical manuals.
  • Records readings in daily logs and sheets as assigned.
  • Active member in PSM Team functions including Mechanical Integrity, Process Hazard Analysis, Management of Change, etc.
  • Able to maintain a clean work area by complying with the 5S standards of the company.
  • Cuts, welds and installs piping and equipment.
  • Operation of machine tools, grinders, and hand tools.
  • All other duties assigned.
  • Performs non-routine maintenance activities assigned by supervisors.
