About The Position

Located in an historic 100-year-old grain mill, Ginger and Baker is home to two restaurants, a coffee shop, teaching kitchen, event spaces and a market. It's become a community gathering place for dining, shopping, learning, celebrating and enjoying a great slice of homemade pie. Ginger and Baker is proud to partner with local farmers, ranchers, food artisans and craftspeople to showcase the innovative, hardworking spirit that makes Northern Colorado so unique. Dedicated to celebrating Fort Collins’ history, community, creativity and pie. It is the primary responsibility for the Baker to assist and support the bake shop operations, assuring the proper preparation of all baked items for our pie shop, Café, Cache restaurant, events/banquets and the day-to-day baking/pastry production. This position is responsible for preparing/producing/baking breads, pies, pastries, cookies, and desserts according to standard recipes, in order to contribute to the overall guest satisfaction. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards: Communicate in a clear, open, honest, and timely manner. Ensure that everything you do is consistent with the mission of the company. Exemplify a sense of urgency in the bakery. Understanding of bakery menu; descriptions, methods, ingredients, allergens. Consistently and accurately read recipes, scale ingredients, evaluate products and mise en place. Produce consistent high-quality production for a variety of bakery items according to recipes and techniques within production timelines. Must have an understanding of basic methods/techniques; doughs, pies, cookies, lamination, creaming, custards, meringues, and bread baking. Able to maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment with the understanding of pars, inventory and basic ordering within the operation. Ensure guest satisfaction, Team Member satisfaction and the development of cost-effective practices. Keeps spoilage/waste to a minimum by producing and utilizing proper quantities and rotating products. Lines up baked products according to the needs of the particular outlet/function Utilize any and all leftovers into usable products

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • State or Local Law may require a certificate upon completion of state-certified proper food handling certification.
  • Must be able to work in a stationary position for long periods of times (up to 8 hours).
  • Must be able to work and be flexible with all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending, kneeling, lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs. without restriction.
  • Must be able to work in close quarters or small rooms and is occasionally exposed to hot, cold, wet and/or humid condition.
  • Work environmental factors include noise, dust, and smoke.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate's Degree in F&B and/or course certification from an accredited Culinary Institute is helpful.
  • 1-year experience in a high-volume/fine dining/Banquet/Pastry production kitchen, preferably in a hotel/resort environment is helpful.
