About The Position

As a key member of our Product & Merchandising Group (PMG), this role supports Bakery and Coffee departments companywide. This is a primarily field-based position that spends approximately 90% of the time in stores, partnering with Department Team Leaders to support successful product and program execution. The role works closely with the Senior Director, Food & Beverage and the Bakery & Coffee Category Manager to ensure consistency, quality, and integrity of all Bakery and Coffee programs. Responsibilities include providing hands-on, in-store training and support focused on product knowledge, food safety and sanitation, production methods, shrink and yield tracking, and proper equipment use. This position plays a critical role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by ensuring department standards are consistently met, including recipe and spec compliance, portion control, quality standards, and visual merchandising.

Requirements

  • Minimum of three years supervisory experience in a Bakery environment preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Smartsheet, and PowerPoint preferred. Pivotal and PowerBI a plus.
  • Possesses a strong knowledge and understanding of Bakery and Coffee Department standards including consistent execution of full, fresh, and clean, adherence to schematics, use and maintenance of equipment, tech solutions, purchasing, and production planning and pars.
  • Strong leadership skills; proven success as a team leader and member; proven history of team member development.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to deliver great tasting, high quality food and beverages and a proven ability to engage and create excitement and discovery with team members and customers.
  • Able to create and execute product education plans including sampling and tasting of seasonal menu items, new item launches, and new team member education.
  • Consistently demonstrates exceptional customer focus.
  • Proven ability to execute the Bakery and Coffee category sales plan, positively impact sales, and margin.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to effectively delegate and follow-through in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates a high-level of self-motivation; takes initiative and successfully problem solves.
  • The ability to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and produce quality output while working within deadlines is a must; sense of urgency required.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • A proven ability to interact and perform all job responsibilities with professionalism and confidentiality is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and troubleshoots product specifications, labeling compliance, displays, presentation, and merchandising standards across all Bakery and Coffee departments.
  • Partners with key members of the PMG Team to ensure consistent execution of Bakery and Coffee program standards, including full, fresh, and clean.
  • Develops, maintains, and supports execution of bakery schematics; adjusts required item lists based on sales performance and trends.
  • In partnership with the Senior Director, Food & Beverage and other members of the Food & Beverage Team, develops and delivers product and program training materials that support quality, consistency, and operational excellence.
  • Provides feedback on product development and facilitates store-level team member recipe input.
  • Prepares weekly and period sales and margin reviews. Monitors all Net Margin report tracking (shrink), and Missing Item Opportunities.
  • Leads and coordinates product and program education, ensuring consistent quality standards across all Bakery and Coffee Department leadership teams.
  • Provides leadership for companywide Bakery & Coffee Department team members with category sales and margin plan, contribution to overhead, product training, motivation, communication, and sharing of the Company vision.
  • Works with the Store Director Team and Senior Director, Food & Beverage as needed, to help address team member performance issues (e.g., provides the Store Director Team with relative information so the Store Director may follow up with the team member).
  • Participates in weekly companywide Bakery & Coffee Department conference calls; presents information on new item selection, promotional plans, program presentations, and local bakery programs.
  • Creates reset plans; in partnership with Senior Director, Food & Beverage and the Prepared Foods & Cheese Coordinator, helps plan remodels, new store openings, equipment selection and installation, holiday planning, and team member training as needed.
  • Participates in department promotional planning as needed.
  • Manages the Bakery/Coffee Shop Trainer 52-week schedule including annual re-training of all team members on department SOPs.
