Purpose: The banquet captain will assist with overseeing the execution of events. The banquet captain will assist with overseeing the service during banquets, weddings, and other events, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and maintain the highest standards of service. Your attention to detail and ability to work efficiently will ensure that each event runs smoothly, exceeds the needs and expectations of, and creates lasting memories for our guests. JOB SUMMARY: Perform setup, service, and breakdown of banquet events including arranging chairs, linens, and décor. Ensure the venue is cleaned and reset for the next event. Ensure the proper table settings, lighting, and audio/visual equipment are in place prior to the event. Work side by side with the front of the house team, including servers, bartenders, and other banquet staff. Liaise with kitchen to ensure the food is served timely and as per the client’s specifications. Meet with VIP clients and event planners before the event to discuss details of how the event should be serviced. Address any client requests or special needs before and during each event. Assist the Director of Food & Beverage with maintaining the timing and flow of each event to ensure all runs are running according to schedule. Ensure the highest level of service is maintained during all events. Report on any food and beverage items that don’t meet the venue’s quality standard to the Director of Food and Beverage. Resolve any issues or concerns that arise during the event and pass them on to the Director of Food & Beverage if it cannot be resolved in the moment Work with the team to ensure banquet supplies (e.g., tableware, napkins, glasses, etc.) are available and stocked. Monitor usage and report any inventory shortages to the Director of Food & Beverage. Demonstrate a team-focused attitude and encourage collaboration. Understand and use safe work practices for all safety precautions including Emergency Evacuation Procedures, Violence in the Workplace, Accident Reporting, OSHA Compliance, and Bloodborne Pathogen Procedures. Attend meetings and training sessions as required. Tears down and sets-up meeting and event rooms. This may include stripping the room of all its furniture and resetting the room per the specifications outline in the BEO (Banquet Event Order). Properly cares for, moves, and stores equipment, such as tables, risers, dance floors, lecterns, and room supplies, such as linen, pads, pens/pencils, etc. Provide excellent customer service to clients during functions as needed. Participates with banquet servers, banquet bartenders, banquet captains, Director of Food & Beverage and any pertinent company employees in producing a smooth and efficiently run operation that meets the highest standards of customer service. Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and regulations. Comply with all policies as outlined in the Handbook, Property Supplement, or otherwise issued including time and attendance expectations, uniform and dress code standards, anti-harassment policy, and substances in the workplace. Adhere to health and safety protocols and cleanliness standards, including but not limited to alcohol service laws and food handling practices.
