The Banquet Captain plays a key leadership role in ensuring the flawless execution of all banquet and event functions at Dellshire Resort. This position supervises banquet staff during setup, service, and breakdown, ensuring that every event exceeds guest expectations and aligns with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and resort standards. The Banquet Captain acts as a liaison between the Banquet Manager, Culinary, and Event Services teams, providing hands-on leadership, clear communication, and exceptional guest service.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of banquet or catering service experience, with one (1) year in a leadership or captain role preferred.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to motivate and guide team members while maintaining a positive and professional work environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and beverage service techniques.
  • Ability to interpret BEOs, floor plans, and event timelines.
  • Food Handler and Alcohol Service Certifications required (or ability to obtain prior to start).
  • Must be available for flexible scheduling including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, lead, and assist banquet servers and setup staff during events to ensure high-quality service and presentation.
  • Review all Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) prior to each function to ensure proper setup, staffing, and timing.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to review event details, assignments, and service standards with the team.
  • Ensure event rooms are properly set up according to diagrams, guest counts, and specifications.
  • Oversee service of food and beverages to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and guest satisfaction.
  • Communicate effectively with the Culinary team regarding event timing, meal courses, and special requests.
  • Monitor staff performance, appearance, and adherence to Dellshire Resort’s standards of hospitality and professionalism.
  • Resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally, escalating to the Banquet Manager as needed.
  • Assist with event setup, breakdown, and post-event clean-up.
  • Maintain accurate event notes, inventory usage, and staff time records for each function.
  • Ensure proper care, storage, and handling of banquet equipment and supplies.
  • Support training and onboarding of new banquet staff.
  • Follow all resort safety, sanitation, and security procedures.
