About The Position

Barback The Food & Beverage department is responsible for providing exceptional dining experiences and food and beverage services through our restaurants, Tiki bar, and in-room dining outlets. Job Summary: The Barback creates an enjoyable experience for our guests while assisting the bartender in the service of beverages in a courteous and timely manner. The Barback is responsible for the daily set-up and maintenance of the bar so that the bartender is equipped to run an efficient operation. This is a seasonal position starting mid May and ending mid September.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • Must be able to obtain and retain an ABC License with the town of Long Branch.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience as a barback or in a similar position preferred.
  • Knowledge of Micros preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local liquor laws.
  • Requires knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits as well as their preparation and presentation.
  • Must be friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests and staff verbally and in written form.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Requires the ability to bend, twist, and stand to perform normal job functions.
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Alcohol Awareness Certification (TIPS Training), CPR and Food Handlers certification a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for setting up for service before the shift starts, preparing garnishes, filling ice bins, and stocking the bar and kegs.
  • Ensures all guest contact is professional, friendly, and courteous, maintaining a commitment to guest satisfaction; maintains eye contact, smiles, and engages in polite conversation if time permits.
  • Maintains an attractive bar, cleaning and sanitizing shelves, mixers, blenders, and soda guns daily.
  • Effectively communicates food and beverage menus in an informative and friendly manner.
  • May assist in preparing beverages for servers and guests.
  • Ensures that guests are served alcohol in accordance to government and company regulations.
  • Checks guest identification for the purchase of alcohol.
  • Accurately prepares itemized checks and handles cash/credit transactions.
  • Cleans, stocks, and maintains the workstations throughout the shift.
  • Performs related duties as requested by a manager at any time.
