About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Barrel Lathe Machinist to join a precision manufacturing operation. This role is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining barrel lathe machines to produce high-quality machined components in accordance with specifications, safety standards, and production schedules.

Requirements

• Previous experience operating barrel lathes or similar manual/CNC lathe equipment
• Strong understanding of machining principles, tolerances, and measurements
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring instruments
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work overtime as required

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a high-volume or industrial manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with steel or heavy metal components
• Prior setup experience

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate barrel lathe machines to machine metal components to specified tolerances
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
• Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for each job
• Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
• Make machine adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency
• Perform basic machine maintenance and keep work areas clean and organized
• Follow all safety, quality, and production procedures
• Communicate issues related to tooling, materials, or machine performance to supervision
