About The Position

At Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park, hospitality is part of the art. We are seeking a Bartender who combines technical skill with genuine hospitality, someone who takes pride in delivering exceptional beverages while creating a welcoming and engaging bar experience. The Bartender plays a central role in shaping the guest experience. Whether serving guests directly at the bar or supporting servers during events, this role ensures beverages are prepared with precision, presented beautifully, and delivered with warm, attentive service. Your attention to detail, consistency, and professionalism help define the hospitality experience our guests remember.

Requirements

  • 1+ year of bartending, beverage service, catering, or hospitality experience required
  • Strong knowledge of mixology and beverage preparation
  • Ability to maintain quality and hospitality in high-volume environments
  • TIPS certification (or ability to obtain shortly after hire)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 20–40 lbs
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of beverage service or customer service experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly and provide attentive, engaging bar service
  • Take beverage and food orders while ensuring a welcoming environment
  • Check in with guests throughout service to ensure an excellent experience
  • Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages using standardized recipes
  • Maintain accurate pour control and consistent drink presentation
  • Prepare drinks for both bar guests and service staff during events
  • Follow all federal and state alcohol service laws
  • Verify legal drinking age and monitor guest consumption responsibly
  • Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
  • Keep bar stations fully stocked, organized, and service-ready
  • Maintain inventory of beer, wine, liquor, glassware, and garnishes
  • Process orders and payments accurately through the POS system
  • Assist with bar setup, breakdown, and event preparation as needed
  • Adapt to working across multiple service locations, indoors and outdoors
  • Support team members and assist with training when assigned
