As a Battery Validation & Test Engineer, you will lead the validation, testing, and integration of high-voltage battery systems for advanced BEV and electrified vehicle programs. This role is intended for a professional with at least 5 years of experience in battery systems validation, regulatory compliance, and test strategy development. You will serve as a technical authority supporting prototype and production programs, with hands-on responsibility for test planning, execution, data analysis, and cross-functional technical leadership.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in lithium-ion battery systems, battery validation, or electrified powertrain testing
  • Strong understanding of battery cell chemistry, module/pack architecture, BMS functionality, and HV safety concepts
  • Hands-on experience with battery test equipment including cyclers, environmental chambers, HV measurement systems, and DAQ
  • Working knowledge of global battery testing and safety standards (UN, SAE, IEC, UL)
  • Demonstrated experience leading validation activities and providing technical direction
  • Vector CANape, CANalyzer, CANoe
  • ETAS INCA, ATI Vision, HBK Perception
  • MATLAB / Simulink for data analysis, automation, and modeling
  • Experience with battery cyclers, insulation monitoring devices, HV interlock systems, and thermal measurement equipment
  • Strong understanding of automotive networks (e.g., CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting EMC/EMI testing as it relates to battery systems, BMS, and high-voltage components
  • Familiarity with CISPR 25, ISO 11452, ISO 7637, and OEM-specific EMC requirements impacting battery packs and HV architectures
  • Experience troubleshooting EMC-related issues such as conducted and radiated emissions, grounding, shielding, and cable routing
  • Exposure to battery system design-for-EMC considerations and test support during vehicle-level EMC campaigns

Responsibilities

  • Lead battery system validation activities including performance, durability, safety, and regulatory compliance testing
  • Develop and execute cell-, module-, pack-, and vehicle-level battery test plans aligned with OEM, UN, SAE, and IEC battery standards
  • Support certification and compliance testing to applicable battery regulations and standards (e.g., UN 38.3, SAE J2464, SAE J2929, IEC 62660, IEC 61960, UL 2580)
  • plan and support battery abuse, environmental, vibration, and thermal propagation testing in internal and external laboratories
  • Oversee high-voltage instrumentation, safe handling, and commissioning of battery systems in laboratory and vehicle test environments
  • Analyze battery data including voltage, current, temperature, insulation resistance, SOC/SOH, aging, and degradation trends
  • Interface with BMS, thermal, EMC, controls, and vehicle integration teams to investigate issues and optimize battery system performance
