Department: Parks + Rec - Seasonal Jobs Title: Seasonal Worker IV - Beach Assistant Supervisor Location: Lee's Summit, MO - Blue Springs Beach Grade: 099NM Salary: $17.00/hour Job Duties: Beach Assistant Supervisor Job Duties: Oversee daily beach operations in the absence of the Beach Supervisor, including admissions, maintenance, cleaning, customer concerns, and safety. Act as a lifeguard when the Beach Supervisor is present. Ensure patron safety by actively scanning the water, enforcing safety rules, and responding to emergencies with water rescues, CPR, and first aid. Complete related reports and communicate any concerns with the beach supervisor. Assist the Beach Supervisor with managing seasonal staff by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, delegating tasks, and resolving issues. Foster a positive team environment that emphasizes safety, professionalism, and exceptional guest service. Help coordinate drills to ensure lifeguards are well-prepared for any incidents. Take charge in emergencies, adhering to established protocols for escalation to higher management or medical professionals. Ensure beach facilities are clean and stocked and inform the Beach Supervisor of any maintenance needs.. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Management experience is desired. Must obtain Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification prior to the beach opening. Required to attend two days of provided lifeguard training on 5/3 and 5/9 unless a current certification can be provided or obtained independently. Ability to maintain certification-level physical and mental readiness. Basic computer and point-of-sale skills are necessary. Required to work weekends, evenings, and holidays; work schedule will vary. These are seasonal positions only. Must have lifeguard certificate. Successful applicants must provide their own transportation. All applicants must be 16 years of age or older. Must have a valid driver's license. Must pass pre-employment drug test/background check.
