About The Position

Utilizes positive reinforcement and motivation techniques for students with behavioral issues. Assess individual student needs, provides input in the creation and implementation of IEPs in relation to behavioral and emotional needs. Works with individual students to reinforce behavior goals and objectives outlined by Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Assesses impending agitation and escalation of behavioral change and participates in the behavioral management of these students. Is prepared and alert to potential problems. Documents promptly and maintains accurate records of behavior incidences and physical management of students. Supervises behavior interventions. Attends required meetings. Prepares reports as required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required. Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or Social Work preferred.
  • Experience: Two years in behavioral treatment.
  • Physical Requirements: Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination. Frequent walking, keyboarding, speaking, writing, bending, carrying, pushing, pulling, sitting, stooping, and turning. Some physical exertion or lifting up to 50 lbs. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Other Requirements: Knowledge of the best practices in managing behavior. Excellent written and verbal communication, strategic planning, problem solving, organizational, time management, and conflict resolution skills. Computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, email, and internet. Ability to keep information confidential.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in school setting and/or psychology or social work experience preferred.
