About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: The Behavioral Health Program Supervisor serves as the primary on-site operational supervisor for Behavioral Health services, overseeing daily clinic operations, staff coordination, scheduling, workflow execution, and policy adherence. The Supervisor ensures that licensed providers and clinical staff are supported through effective operational oversight, clear expectations, and consistent implementation of approved policies and procedures. This position provides operational supervision and does not include clinical supervision or clinical decision-making authority. Clinical supervision and treatment decisions remain the responsibility of appropriately licensed providers and designated clinical leadership.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in healthcare management, population health, or a related field – required
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing patient care workflows and compliance in a healthcare or behavioral health setting – required.
  • Experience working with licensed clinical staff and supporting regulatory and documentation standards – required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in FQHC, community health, or integrated care environments – preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, Healthcare Administration, Nursing, Social Work, or a related field – preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day supervision of patient care operations within Behavioral Health programs.
  • Ensure approved clinical workflows, care processes, and service delivery standards are followed.
  • Monitor patients flow from intake through discharge to ensure continuity, appropriateness, and quality of care.
  • Identify patient-care–related operational issues and escalate risks or concerns as appropriate.
  • Monitor key operational performance indicators related to patient access, scheduling efficiency, patient flow, documentation timeliness, and care coordination, and report trends to leadership.
  • Ensure Behavioral Health services operate in compliance with Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Health Center Program Requirements.
  • Monitor adherence to state and federal regulations, payer requirements, and organizational policies related to behavioral health services.
  • Support audits, site visits, chart reviews, and corrective action plans related to Behavioral Health compliance.
  • Ensure HIPAA, patient confidentiality, and quality management standards are consistently upheld across Behavioral Health services.
  • Monitor documentation practices to ensure completeness, timeliness, and compliance with clinical and payer standards.
  • Support licensed providers in meeting documentation, productivity, and quality expectations through operational guidance, without providing clinical judgment or treatment direction.
  • Track, analyze, and report compliance- and quality-related performance indicators to leadership.
  • Support clinic readiness for HRSA reviews and audits through proactive monitoring, corrective action follow-up, and staff education related to operational compliance expectations.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on patient care delivery, workflow optimization, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide supervision to non-licensed Behavioral Health support staff involved in patient care processes.
  • Provide operational oversight and support to licensed providers related to workflows, documentation standards, productivity expectations, and compliance requirements.
  • Conduct staff meetings, coaching, and performance feedback focused on patient care operations and compliance.
  • Reinforce accountability and adherence to approved clinical and operational standards.
  • Clearly distinguish operational supervision from clinical supervision in all staff interactions, documentation, and performance management activities.
  • Collaborate with Population Health, medical services, behavioral health providers, quality, and operations teams to support integrated, whole-person care.
  • Communicate patient-care, compliance, and quality risks or trends to the Population Health Director.
  • Support interdisciplinary coordination and continuous improvement in patient care delivery.

  • The Behavioral Health Program Supervisor ensures compliance with all 19 Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Health Center Program Requirements.
  • The Behavioral Health Program Supervisor is also expected to actively participate in and support quality improvement activities and the clinical practice team efforts emphasizing the importance of the individual patient and putting the patient’s needs first.
