About The Position

The Behavioral Health Supervisor is an advanced clinician, who supervises a team of Behavioral Health clinicians, in addition to providing direct patient behavioral healthcare. This role is responsible for supervisory and administrative practices, human resources functions, clinical evaluation, role optimization, advocacy and education related to Behavioral Health practice. The Behavioral Health Supervisor has excellent interpersonal communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills. This position closely collaborates with administrative, nursing, and clinical team members to ensure safe, effective, quality patient care for a diverse group of patients with a variety of medical, behavioral health, and/or behaviorally impacted conditions. This position may require travel between CommUnityCare sites.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of clinical experience in mental health
  • Current Licensure as LCSW or LPC in the State of Texas
  • Basic Life Support through American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Nice To Haves

  • 6 months of that experience working in the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) model.
  • Experience supervising a team of social workers or counselors

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the development and implementation of program goals and objectives, working in collaboration with other clinic/department managers. • Develops and approves schedules/standards for meeting program goals.
  • Closely collaborates with Site Leaders to address day-to-day site issues and ensure solid onboarding of new providers.
  • Participates in Behavioral Health Leadership meetings under the guidance of the Director and Associate Director of Behavioral Health, and effectively communicates key information to direct reports.
  • Promotes growth of Behavioral Health staff in areas of clinical excellence, patient-centered care, education, and organizational involvement to meet the identified goals and needs of the employee and organization.
  • Oversees and supports clinicians in practice management, offering guidance and training to ensure adherence to patient care expectations and ambulatory standards.
  • Conducts needs assessments and monitors Behavioral Health clinician engagement in their professional practice and patient care by regularly meeting with clinicians for supervision and participating in activities aimed at enhancing engagement, work-life balance, and job satisfaction.
  • Manages the hiring, disciplinary, and dismissal processes for direct reports and conducts annual performance reviews with input from key stakeholders.
  • Conducts assessments, screenings, and intervention services as a key member of the care team, collaborating with primary care or specialty providers to identify, treat, and manage patient behavioral health concerns, while optimizing care quality through evidence-based guidelines and standards.
  • Consults with multidisciplinary team to provide integrated on‐site care, recommendations, and feedback to physicians, physician residents, and advanced practice providers.
  • Collaborates with care teams to effectively and efficiently treat and manage patients with chronic emotional and/or health problems.
  • Practices in a population‐based practice management strategy with flexibility for warm‐handoffs and the ability to respond to urgent situations.
  • Supports and promote care team capacity to recognize and treat mental disorders and psychosocial problems.
  • Collaborates with the care team to refer cases to specialty mental health as appropriate.
  • Engages respectfully with patients and staff, fostering mutual respect and shared goals, while actively participating in continuous process and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care within the organization's care model framework.
  • Attends patient care huddles, meetings, patient conferences, or planning sessions. These may be related to quality assurance, patient care and other related topics within the clinic.
  • Adheres to strict patient, customer, and business confidentiality standards, upholding respective professional board's code of ethics and honoring the patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality.
  • Completes all direct and indirect care documentation in timely manner, ensuring patient records are current and complete.
  • Adheres to safety protocols and security measures to maintain a safe environment, while ensuring that all patient care, administrative tasks, and related duties comply with regulatory and accreditation standards, including The Joint Commission, CommUnityCare Standard Operating Procedures, and CommUnityCare policies and procedures.
  • Articulates and supports the mission of the organization.
  • Ensures optimal, ethical, and safe patient care by maintaining self-care, meeting all licensure and certification requirements, and pursuing professional development opportunities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
