About The Position

This position serves as a part of the Council's Office of Child Development Team that ensures program compliance and serves as the implementer for the individualized plans to support the children and teachers in both the classroom and home-based settings. Ensures mental health and disabilities services in all child development centers are in compliance with childcare licensing, Head Start Program Performance Standards, Head Start Act, ADA (American with Disabilities Act), and IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act). Provides exceptional education opportunities to students enrolled with specific emphasis on social and emotional development . The position provides hands-on guidance and teaching instruction through high quality interactions between student and adult, to the Council's teachers to improve child outcomes and to ensure that students are identified as school ready when exiting our program. This position provides training and technical assistance of child development best practices and ongoing professional development for staff and volunteers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (master's degree preferred) in early childhood education or child development, or psychology, or sociology, or related discipline as deemed appropriate by the Council, and/or a specific licensure in a therapeutic discipline.
  • Knowledge of Kentucky licensing regulations and Head Start Program Performance Standards.
  • Must be able to operate technology efficiently in carrying out duties and the aggregation of data.
  • A working knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word, and the ability to manipulate the Council's internal data base is required.
  • Ability to maintain up-to-date knowledge of current child development practices and research based early childhood quality methods and approaches.
  • Understanding of developmentally appropriate practice in early childhood education and the ability to support its use in school readiness goals.
  • Must demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills including working as part of a team, leadership ability, ability to pay close attention to detail and lead others to a higher level of service delivery.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Creative Curriculum, AEPS, Teaching Strategies GOLD, ECERS/ITERS, Practice Based Coaching, and CLASS are preferred
