About The Position

The Behavioral Interventionist (BI) Program is an intensive program designed to help children who have experienced trauma heal in their family homes. Clients in the BI program struggle with behavioral and emotional management to the degree that their behaviors threaten the stability of their current placement. The main goal of the program is to provide assistance to both the parents and child, thus decreasing the need for short-term hospitalizations, long-term residential admittance, and/or adoption disruption. The Behavioral Interventionist assists with re-direction, teaching of replacement positive behaviors to the child, coaching, and role-modeling to the family how to address the child's behavior.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of behavior principles, including reinforcement, shaping, and extinction.
  • Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), developmental disabilities, or other behavioral concerns.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to manage challenging behaviors in a calm and professional manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with families, teachers, and other professionals.
  • Strong customer service focus and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to travel
  • Current, valid driver's license and meet KVC requirement for driver’s insurance
  • At least 1 year of experience working with individuals with behavioral challenges, preferably in a clinical, educational, or therapeutic setting.
  • Experience with behavior modification techniques and direct intervention implementation.
  • Must be 21 years old to apply
  • Pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, or a related field, preferred but not required.
  • Certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) or coursework related to behavior management is a plus, but not required.
  • Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy or other evidence-based behavior management strategies.
  • Experience working in a school, clinical, or home setting with children or adolescents.
  • Familiarity with various behavioral assessment tools and interventions.
  • Ability to adapt interventions to meet the unique needs of each individual.
