About The Position

Under general supervision, the Benefits Specialist assists with benefit plan invoice processing,  reconciliations and payments; ensures compliance with benefits regulations, and resolves employee benefit inquiries and claims resolution issues. The role is responsible for supporting the benefit enrollment experience and communications and supports Troon’s well-being initiatives.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in benefits administration or similar experience (i.e. Accounting, Financial, general HR)
  • Strong attention to detail demonstrated through previous work experience.
  • Knowledge of benefits laws and regulations, including the Affordable Care Act (ACA), ERISA, and recordkeeping provisions beneficial.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments concurrently with efficiency.
  • Strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration across departments.
  • General understanding of accounting principles related to benefits administration.
  • Familiarity with insurance billing reconciliations and benefits management systems.
  • Experience working in a multi-state and multi-site environment.
  • Proficiency in HRIS applications and Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables), Word, Outlook, and OneNote.

Responsibilities

  • Understands the flow of employee benefit data to ensure accurate processing and reporting.
  • Assist with day-to-day benefits administration tasks and address employee benefit inquiries.
  • Supports Life Events and the benefits enrollment process within the HRIS system.
  • Collaborates with team members and vendors to resolve customer service issues and determine appropriate actions.
  • Assists with reviewing and resolving issues in the enrollment system, Open Enrollment process, and the benefits Self-Service platform.
  • Reconciles and approves payments for benefit billing invoices, working closely with the Benefits, Accounting, and Payroll departments to address discrepancies between enrollment and deductions, ensuring on-time payments.
  • Reviews, researches, and resolves error reports generated by benefit vendors to ensure accuracy.
  • Runs the monthly and annual ACA Initial Measurement process and distribute the results, updating the ACA benefits guide monthly.
  • Processes benefit self-pay premium payments, clears deduction arrears, and provides deposit allocations to Accounting.
  • Supports well-being initiatives including organization of events, communications and engagement.
  • Provides support and participates in project teams for other HR and benefits-related duties and projects as needed.
