About The Position

Under general direction, responsible for administering, facilitating, and explaining benefit programs to facility employees. Provides guidance and assistance to all Corporate facilities on various employee benefits plans; and to do other related work as required. Incumbent in this class performs the journey level scope of assignments in the benefits field, including projects requiring research, unusual or original solutions, and inter-departmental relationships. Employee at this level receives occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Position requires extreme accuracy to detail, with excellent organizational skills and customer service. Demonstrates the ability to identify and meet the needs of the growth and development of all age groups - infancy through geriatrics. Competent in providing services for the culturally diverse population.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent. Supplemented college courses desirable; OR
  • Associate in Arts (AA) in human resources, business management, psychology or closely related field, OR
  • Possession of Professional Human Resources Certificate (PHR) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or similar accredited program in a recognized college or university.
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in administrative support in the field of human resources, two (2) years of which must have included benefits administration for large organization (500 or more employees), preferably in a healthcare environment;
  • OR
  • Completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or closely related field.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of benefits design and administration
  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations, such FMLA, ADA, Wage and Hour, State Disability, etc.
  • Knowledge of development, design, analysis, and evaluation of benefits
  • Knowledge of modern office methods and procedures
  • Knowledge of application of statistical methods to benefits work
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to understand, administer and interpret benefits and compensation programs
  • Ability to collect data, interpret it objectively, present it clearly, and prepare sound recommendations and reports
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply benefits and compensation laws, rules, regulations, standards, and procedures
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service, telephone and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to explain benefits and compensation procedures and resolve complaints
  • Ability to secure cooperation of department heads in accepting and carrying out sound benefits and compensation management practices
  • Ability to keep abreast of developments in the field of benefits and compensation administration
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and organize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision, exercise initiative, and decision-making with independent judgment.
  • Ability to apply standards of professional and ethical conduct in all situations
