Join our friendly, collaborative, and hardworking programs team, reporting to the Program Manager, HDG Operations. The Bilingual Home Delivery Distribution Associate is responsible for welcoming and checking in delivery drivers. Who We Are: The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank’s mission is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin counties. We envision a community free of the root causes of hunger, where everyone has access to nutritious food of their choosing and is uplifted by a network of support. Together with more than 300 community partners, we work to address hunger head-on through a coordinated network of neighborhood food pantries, CalFresh enrollment, home-delivered groceries, and policy and advocacy efforts. We work with our community to provide food for people facing hunger today while working to end the hunger of tomorrow. This fiscal year, we are serving 36,000 households per week. What You Would Be Accountable for: The Bilingual Home Delivery Distribution Associate will be responsible for the following key pieces of work: Under the coordination of the Program Manager, HDG Operations, this role is responsible for welcoming, checking in, and assisting delivery drivers with their grocery bag pickups. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Calm demeanor in a sometimes-stressful environment. Ability to work and interact well with individuals (staff, volunteers, and participants) from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds in a culturally diverse environment. A people-centered mindset.

Requirements

  • 1+ year(s) of successful customer service experience.
  • Bilingual language skills in Spanish required
  • Ability to work efficiently, independently and as part of a team; to communicate regularly; and meet deadlines.
  • Experience using tablets or other similar technology.

  • Volunteer experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery Distribution Welcome home-delivery drivers to the Food Bank.
  • Direct drivers to pick-up and waiting lanes.
  • Collect driver information and confirm against existing lists.
  • Remind and appreciate drivers for the crucial role they play in providing needed food to participants who are homebound and/or sheltering in place.
  • Complete a quick health check with drivers.
  • Educate drivers on delivery protocols.
  • Troubleshoot driver challenges with routing software.
  • Assist drivers with loading groceries.
  • Confer regularly with and seek guidance from Home-Delivery Support Coordinator and Home-Delivery Operations Supervisor.
  • Adhere to Food Bank and Home-Delivery policies and procedures.
  • Take note of driver feedback about delivery program and share with team.
  • Evaluate practices and processes to identify areas for improvement, propose solutions, and share with teammates for possible implementation.
  • Assist with daily setup and takedown.
  • Other duties as required.
