About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the pharmacist on duty, this position is responsible for timely and accurate interpretation and processing of prescriptions presented by patients; assures the pharmacy supplies are stocked; maintains organization and cleanliness of workstation; maintain confidentiality pertaining to PHI (Patient Health Information) by following HIPPA guidelines.

Requirements

  • Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Able to read and understand the English language.
  • Able to effectively maintain confidentiality of records and communicate with all levels of personnel.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, management staff, and external customers.
  • Must be able to work with multiple changing priorities.
  • Requires excellent organizational, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Must be able to interact with individuals of all cultures and levels of authority.
  • Must be able to function as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • At least one year of retail pharmacy experience.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Have excellent organizational skills.
  • Must be bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • High School Diploma or GED certificate required
  • Pharmacy technician registration with North Carolina Board of Pharmacy (NCBOP)

Nice To Haves

  • National Certification preferred from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
  • Familiarity with pharmacy software programs necessary to execute daily tasks.
  • Prior FQHC or public health experience.

Responsibilities

  • Obtaining information to help fill prescriptions.
  • Counting medications and measuring out amounts to ensure customers get exactly what has been prescribed by their doctors.
  • Mix and prepare medications.
  • Package prescriptions for customers, ensuring they are labeled correctly with dosage information.
  • Process retail transactions and handle money.
  • Process insurance claims as part of filling a prescription.
  • Understand and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Perform accurate cash management/transaction procedures or refer customers appropriately.
  • Participate in pharmacy QI initiative.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
