About The Position

The Unaccompanied Children (UC) Transitional Foster Care (TFC) Teacher Aide is primarily responsible for assisting the classroom teacher in the planning, organizing, and implementation of the instructional program in a preschool, elementary, or secondary learning environment. This position must function in a manner that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. This position must provide child-facing services on-site. Requirements

  • Must have personal auto insurance as required by law with minimum bodily injury coverage limits of $250,000 per person/$500,000 per incident or $500,000 combined.
  • Must be willing to work irregular hours including evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • This is an on-site role that requires regular, full-time attendance at the office; remote or hybrid work is not available, however, there may be times ad hoc or situational telework is needed.
  • Successfully pass an annual TB test and document preference to receive or decline Hepatitis immunization.
  • Must show documentation proof of immunity to vaccine-preventable diseases transmitted by the respiratory route.
  • Provides child-facing services on-site.
  • Drives for agency business.
  • Must submit to agency approved background checks.
  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English fluency is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year of prior employment experience working with children and families from diverse cultures with sensitivity to cultural difference and norms is required.
  • Valid CPR, First Aid, and AEC certified upon hire or within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor’s degree in education from an accredited college, or some college coursework in educational instruction is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 1 year of prior employment experience teaching English Language Learning (ELL)/English Secondary Language (ESL) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the planning, preparation, and delivery of lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Assists with the delivery of lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.
  • Assists with the instruction and monitoring of students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Effectively use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Effectively manages student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintains discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the program.
  • Provide students with the appropriate feedback on work.
  • Encourages and monitors the progress of individual students and uses information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
  • Updates all necessary records accurately and completely in alignment with ORR requirements.
  • Participates in school activities, as well as staff and treatment team meetings.
  • Supervises children during field trips and in the classroom.
  • Communicates necessary information regularly to Lead Clinician/Lead Case Manager, Case Manager(s), Clinician, and foster parents regarding student progress, concerns, or needs.
  • Establishes and communicates clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Assists the Teacher in the delivery of classroom activities.
  • Provides a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
  • Assists or leads preschool classroom if necessary.
