About The Position

Varsity Spirit, A Varsity Achievement Brand, is looking to hire a Folder 1st Shift Associate. As a member of the Yearbook Bindery Production Team, you will work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment printing high school and college yearbooks to help our customers celebrate some of their greatest achievements. While you’ll lean heavily on your technical abilities, your greatest asset will be your drive and commitment to quality and safety. We live and work in a team environment and rely heavily on each other to assist across a variety of functions and on various machines so if you have a commitment to quality and a passion for your teammates, we want you! What We Want You to Accomplish: First 30 Days: Read detailed work orders to determine setup specifications and efficiently set up your assigned machine. First 60 days: Initiate trial runs to verify accuracy of machine setup. First 90 Days: Observe and monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions and to determine whether adjustments are needed. Maintain perfect attendance

Requirements

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • The ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Experience working in a high-volume shipping dock.
  • Able to cooperate and work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
  • HS Diploma or GED (required)
  • 1 - 2 years’ experience in a warehouse/ manufacturing setting
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as tracking sheets, order confirmation sheets and work orders
  • Proven ability to excel in a high production manufacturing environment which focuses on safety, quality control, and organization
  • Previous success maintaining a strong attendance and on time record
  • Must be very comfortable with Microsoft Office, with extensive experience with Microsoft Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a bonus
  • Preference will be given to candidates with previous related experience
  • Experience folding large, printed signatures with MBO or Heidelberg folding machines a plus!
  • High mechanical aptitude

Responsibilities

  • Operate and folding equipment.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance on the folding machine during shift.
  • Check for quality.
