About The Position

The Biologist II is responsible for helping to develop innovative, game-changing therapies for the treatment of neuro-pain diseases and their associated complications. Primary responsibilities are leading multiple animal studies including but not limited to in-vivo animal handling skills and dosing, designing, collecting behavioral data and presenting analyzed results. Other responsibilities include animal tissue histology and tissue dissection.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency in dosing and handling mice and rats
  • Skilled in sample collection and sample preparation Written and verbal communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively in a group setting, with colleagues and clients

  • Bachelor’s in Biology, Molecular Biology, Neuroscience, or closely related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with animal handling and dosing experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of above.

Responsibilities

  • Support Multiple in-vivo animal studies
  • Design and conduct rodent in-vivo pharmacology studies
  • Dosing study animals using the following: PO, subcutaneous, intramuscular, intravenous, and intraperitoneal
  • Collect behavioral data of various modalities
  • Collect fluid and tissue samples
  • Perform animal tissue dissection, basic trimming, and fixation
  • Prepare frozen tissue or formalin fixation paraffin embedding
  • Perform tissue microtomy and cryotomy using a vibratome
  • Perform protein assays such as BCA, Western blotting, ELISAs
  • Performs testing independently and with limited to no supervision from management.
  • Identify, troubleshoot and provide suggested technical solutions to clients and management.
  • Prepare written technical reports.
  • Perform basic data analysis as assigned.
  • Assist with training.
  • Comply with clients and Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc management systems in accordance with appropriate regulatory agencies.
  • Follows the guidelines set forth by clients and the Bureau Veritas Consumer Products Services, Inc Quality Manual and Safety / Chemical Hygiene Plan.
  • Adhere to the requirements of the BV-CPS Quality System.
  • Other duties as defined by Manager, department needs and workload.
