About The Position

Tierra Right of Way Services is seeking 2 Field Biologists (Full or Part-time) for monitoring, surveying, and reporting writing projects in Southern Arizona, Yuma, Arizona and El Centro, California. Some of these projects involve working along the US - Mexico border. The Field Biologist plans, coordinates, and conducts natural resources-based field investigations, prepares field notes, and composes and reviews written reports. They have an extensive knowledge of the local flora, fauna, and their habitats.

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Knowledge of local flora, fauna, and their habitats
Bachelors degree in the biological or environmental sciences or related field.
Extensive knowledge of local flora, fauna, and their habitats.
Five (5) years of natural resources consulting experience.
Strong working knowledge of Federal, State, and local government environmental regulations.
Demonstrated ability in field data collection and survey design methodologies, data analysis, and technical writing.
Ability to pass a background check
A valid state-issued driver's license.

Nice To Haves

Masters degree in the biological or environmental sciences or related field.
Possess a valid scientific collecting permit and/or a USFWS permit to survey for ESA listed species.

Responsibilities

Assists with the preparation, coordination, and review of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance documents such as Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and Environmental Impact Statements for federal agencies.
Plans and coordinates field studies, archival research, and report preparation pertaining to wildlife, native plants, and habitats found in the Southwest.
Conducts Native Plant Inventories and prepares Native Plant Inventory Reports.
Directs biological surveys and prepares Biological Assessments and Evaluations for local, state, and federal agencies.
Conducts Preliminary Jurisdictional Delineations and prepares USACE Clean Water Act Section 404 permits.
Works directly with interdisciplinary regulatory agency project teams, clients, and subcontractors.
Performs QA/QC of technical documents.
Performs related duties as requested.
