Your Opportunity Stantec's Mountain Region is currently seeking a Biologist for our Environmental Services Group based out of either Elko, Reno, or Las Vegas Nevada, or Salt Lake City, Utah (Elko preferred). The successful candidate will work in a team environment and will be responsible for field surveys/data collection related to natural resources (e.g., wildlife, springs, vegetation). The right candidate will be focused on and have a technical background in one or more of the following fields: wildlife biology, botany, or general biology with a focus on natural resources. Your Key Responsibilities This position is largely field-based and will require overnight travel (~80% during the field season) with frequent multiple-night stays. This position will entail both individual (alone), paired, and team field assignments. Interacting and communicating effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, including multiple project / task managers, and field team leads.

Requirements

• The ability to / experience identifying common wildlife and plant species in the Great Basin / Mountain West (Nevada, Utah).
• The ability to / experience working safely in remote areas throughout Nevada and Utah.
• Make sound decisions and apply a high degree of integrity to data collection.
• Ability to manage risks and conduct work safely and in an organized manner.
• Eager to learn and be part of a local team of resource specialists supporting clients in renewables, transmission, mining, and other industries.
• Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.
• Bachelor of Science Degree with 1-5 years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

• The ability to / experience with ESRI Field Maps and various wildlife and botany data collection protocols is a plus.
• Experience in the field of natural resources consulting is preferred but not required.
• Experience working with wildlife, plants, habitats and/or aquatic resources in the field.
• Past experience with field team leadership and/or task management as a biologist in consulting will factor into compensation and responsibilities/opportunities (candidate dependent).
