The Saint Mary's College Department of Biology invites applications for a 1-Year Visiting Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2026, with the possibility of renewal for up to three years. We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in Ecology, Conservation Biology, or Environmental Science. Teaching, Research, and Service Expectations: Teaching load of 9-12 contact hours per semester (3-4 lectures or labs per semester) for a total of 21 contact hours per academic year. Teaching load will include the following courses: a lab-based Ecology course for majors, an introductory Environmental Science course for majors and non-majors An active research program with a desire to mentor undergraduate researchers in Biology and/or Environmental Studies Service to the Biology Department that includes attendance at meetings and faculty events, and participation in Departmental committees according to the candidate’s interests. Service opportunities may also exist in the Environmental Studies Program if this aligns with the candidate's interests.
