About The Position

Ready to put your mechanical savvy to work where it matters most—inside hospitals? At STERIS, we power safer care by keeping critical medical equipment up and running. Is this you? Comfortable working independently in a remote, customer-facing capacity? Skilled with your hands and energized by troubleshooting? Experienced in fields like HVAC, refrigeration, boilers/chillers, equipment maintenance and repair, diesel/automotive, aviation, plumbing, or electrical? Based in California and open to a dynamic schedule with occasional overnights and early/late shifts? What you’ll tackle Diagnose, repair, and maintain STERIS and competitor medical devices, systems, and components. Own your workflow: plan PMs, service and warranty calls, installations, field upgrades, and more—balancing customer priorities and business needs. Leverage digital platforms to complete regulatory compliance requirements and to capture/document troubleshooting. Escalate effectively with Tech Support, Engineering, and Service Contract Management to resolve complex issues. Advise customers on options, timelines, and pricing; with manager support, coordinate with Sales to elevate the customer experience and identify opportunities. Support multiple customer locations across the assigned California territory as service agreements require. Where you’ll work This is a remote, customer-facing position working primarily inside hospitals. To serve customers in the assigned territory, you must be based in California.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED AND 4+ years of professional experience, including at least 2 years in a mechanical/technical role.
  • Valid driver’s license; able to complete background and physical assessments to obtain and maintain vendor credentialing.
  • Strong customer and team interaction skills; clear written and verbal communication.
  • Foundational PC and mobile skills (Windows, email, navigation, mobile apps, and data entry across systems).
  • Schedule flexibility for early/late hours and potential overnights.

Nice To Haves

  • An associate degree, relevant certifications, competitive equipment training, or related military experience may be considered toward the technical experience requirement.
