About The Position

This is an hourly-rated position at the American Bridge Manufacturing (ABM) facility, shift hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm. ABM is an AISC Certified Fabricator that supports all heavy civil construction projects for the Southland Holdings family of companies, including American Bridge Company. The position of Blaster is an entry level position for a candidate with limited to no experience. You will work with our team of professionals to learn how to sand-blast steel, as well as other relative skills related to steel fabrication and industrial coatings.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED certificate
Detail oriented and values quality workmanship.
Safety-oriented and exhibits safe work habits.
Must be self-motivated / self-starter
The candidate must be able to legally work in the United States.
The candidate must be willing to work in a drug-free environment and agree to a post offer drug test.
The candidate must be willing to work safely and keep OSHA recordable incidents to a minimum.
The candidate must possess a professional attitude, as well as the willingness to perform the tasks given in order to meet all customer / projects needs.
Constant physical effort, including standing, is required during a regular work shift of at least eight hours per day, Monday through Friday. Employee must be able to stand for extended periods of time, and to stoop, bend, and crouch as required to perform Essential Duties.
Frequently work with hands extended overhead, sometimes in conjunction with the operation of hand power tools.
Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50-90 pounds personally, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
Manual dexterity to hand-carry steel and other fabrication materials, power tools, and hand tools.

Nice To Haves

Has knowledge of industrial paint with metals.
Has experience and ability at applying paint with brush, roller or spray gun
Is able to think critically about a task and to independently work at completing it within the given parameters.
