The Product Developer I, Blend Development crafts high-quality beverage products that align with consumer preferences and business goals. This role is responsible for developing new recipes across the existing Boston Beer portfolio, while adhering to our internal product development standards. The Product Developer I is responsible for managing their own project load while collaborating with cross-functional partners to ensure that products are profitable, scalable, and defendable prior to transition and flagging risks proactively so that mitigation plans can be put in place.

  • Lead Product Development - Develops new products according to a defined scope, desired timeline, and according to our internal quality standards.
  • Project Management - Manages their own project load of low to medium complexity projects, flagging risks proactively so that mitigation plans can be aligned on.
  • Consumer-centric Design - Utilize consumer insights to guide flavor and product development that enhances enjoyment and satisfaction.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration - Work closely with teams across the company (e.g., Commercialization, Sensory, Brand, Legal, Quality Assurance, and Production) to ensure timely and successful product launches.
  • Scalable Manufacturing - Ensure products are designed for efficient production at the necessary scale.
  • Beverage Science - Able to translate ideas into technical solutions, applying scientific thinking to develop products that drinkers love and to improve our ways of working.
  • Problem Solving - Approaches challenges with a can-do attitude, identifies solutions, and enrolls required support.
  • BS in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Fermentation Science, or applicable Engineering
  • Typically 2+ years of experience or equivalent degree/certification/education
  • Displays excellent project management skills by tracking and organizing all documentation and communication relevant to active projects.
  • Basic beverage lab skills such as pipetting, etc
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Report writing and good communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a flexible and changing schedule.
  • Must possess the technical skills to work in a lab, pilot plant, and manufacturing scale environments.
