About The Position

Mixing and blending chemical formulations by following a batch sheet and detailed blending instructions. Responsible for blending and mixing various chemical formulations using a blend sheet or recipe. Must be able to follow detailed procedures and learn new concepts quickly. Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the batch area. Monitor all tank activities and complete tank inventories daily. Weigh and meter all blend components using volume meters and/or load cells. Ensure the proper operation of these measuring devices and report any concerns to supervisor. Handle and pump a variety of chemicals from water to extremely hazardous items. Use and be familiar with a variety of chemical pumps and material handling devices to transfer/transport blending materials. Hook up tanks and hoses to blend and/or package the desired product. Works closely with line supervisors in assuring the proper tanks are connected to the packaging stations and to notify operators when levels are getting low. Trace fill lines to ensure accurate hook-ups and transfers. Monitor blending operations, mixing times, temperatures, and fill levels to ensure safety. Use tank charts, gauge readings, and temperature conversion charts to determine proper filling volumes and safe fill levels for chemical storage tanks. Be familiar with all products in storage tanks and their specific hazards. Take the necessary precautions and wear the appropriate PPE to ensure employee safety. This also includes keeping all storage tanks not currently being used locked and secured. Maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with the requirements of ISO-9001:2015. This includes keeping and maintaining records of all blend activities. NOTE: The above job description does not limit any additional duties and/or responsibilities that may be assigned as needed. Requirements

  • Minimum of high school education or GED.
  • Good physical condition, able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and able to work in extreme temperatures.
  • Good understanding of chemical hazards and safety.
  • Ability to perform routine linear calculations and other basic math skills.
  • Familiar with basic blending concepts and equipment such as pumps, valves, and kettles.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a blending or chemical handling environment is also strongly desired.
  • Must have a valid and legible T.W.I.C. card (Houston Facility only).
  • DOT Hazmat certification is desirable as well as some type of spill response training.
