About The Position

The Behavioral and Mental Health Manager will provide leadership and supervision to Behavioral Mental Health Therapists, including oversight and coordination of services in a model of care centered around integrated, multidisciplinary services, with seamless collaborations with psychiatry, psychology, social work, medical specialties, and other behavioral and mental health disciplines.

Requirements

  • 5 years of mental health licensed experience with providing intake evaluations and regularly scheduled therapy services for children and adolescents within a medical setting or behavioral mental health facility
  • 3 years of experience providing individual and group clinical supervision to trainees and Associate level licensed therapists
  • 3 years of leadership experience
  • Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, or marriage and family therapy from an accredited university
  • An unrestricted license in the state of Georgia (LCSW, LMFT, LPC)
  • Completion of necessary requirements (based on licensure) in order to provide clinical supervision to Master’s level interns and associate clinicians.
  • BLS or PALS certification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with patients, teammates, direct reports, and leadership
  • Knowledge of evidence-based age-appropriate treatment and practice
  • Excellent conflict resolution and problem-solving skills among interdisciplinary team members
  • Ability to remain calm and manage verbal/physical responses in stressful situations
  • Strong skills in staff development and fiscal accountability
  • Developed skills in coordination, delegation, and team collaboration.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes in behavioral mental programs and procedures
  • Developed cultural humility and ability to work with diverse populations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Unified protocol, CBT, ACT, DBT, TF-CBT, PCIT, and/or Solution-Focused Therapy
  • Experience with children & adolescents with co-occurring medical issues
  • Leadership experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based and effective delivery of services (e.g., intake evaluations, therapy, and case management) appropriate to the patient’s specific needs and severity level of disability or impairment, and make referrals as needed.
  • Manage and resolve escalated patient cases.
  • Provide back-up clinical care to patients and families to assist with caseload management and team leave.
  • Round proactively to identify and react to escalating concerns of potential or actual conflict, seeking resolution, and incorporating service recovery.
  • Provide organizational and clinical supervision to a team of Behavioral Mental Health Supervisors, Behavioral Mental Health Therapists I and II, Social Workers I and II and Associate BMH Therapists as assigned.
  • Interview, hire, train, develop, direct work and processes, manage performance, recognize, and reward employees.
  • Develop team’s cultural humility and services in respect to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Establish and monitor annual goals, including quality measures, to support system Behavioral and Mental Health initiatives.
  • Implement new system initiatives and program changes.
  • Lead team meetings and participate in case consultations.
  • Work with departmental business and clinical leaders as well as BMH system leaders to ensure operational collaboration and oversight of departmental program, policies, and practices and to facilitate programs, policies, and practices which promote delivery of safe patient care.
  • Foster collegial relationships between BMH disciplines and departments.
  • Engage in leadership activities such as representing BMH at the system level and/or Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta to external organizations.
  • Maintain relationships with external behavioral mental health resources to ensure collaboration and access to services for patients.
  • Develop and oversee graduate student training programs to support workforce development, including forming relationships with GA counseling and social work programs and setting up infrastructure for this type of training.
  • Complete notes in electronic medical record within time guidelines, including diagnostic coding, screenings, and treatment plans.
  • Bill appropriately for services in accordance with regulations set forth by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including Joint Commission.
  • Demonstrate fiscal accountability in budget preparation and compliance to budget guidelines.
  • Oversee follow-up to occurrence notification system reports and safety procedures.
