Essential Duties Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures Conducts thorough pre-trip, mid-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles being operated, in accordance with established company policies and procedures, reporting discrepancies immediately Load/unload trucks and containers, lift materials, and identify, label, count, receive, and issue freight Ensure that cargo is secured for transport in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws Operates a box truck in order to pick up and deliver customer freight in a variety of locations. Will prepare documents for pick-up and give information to dispatcher Pack and/or ship materials in compliance with DOT and hazardous materials regulations Maintain good housekeeping standards with focus on the care and custody of materials Prioritize and complete day-to-day activities as assigned Maintain telephone or PeopleNet contact with terminal dispatcher to receive instructions May be required to perform emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, light bulbs, and tire chains All other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma, or GED equivalent Two to three years driving experience required CDL Class B required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills Follows instructions, responds to management direction, takes responsibility for own actions, completes tasks on time or communicates alternate plans Treats people with respect; keeps commitments, inspires the trust of others, works with integrity and ethically, upholds organizational values Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and accuracy Must be customer focused and represent Carlile in a professional and friendly manner Should have a mechanical aptitude Must be able to prioritize daily tasks and assignments Must be able to multitask and have excellent time management skills Must be able to drive in adverse weather conditions and in ice and snow, with the ability to chain-up Experience with lift gates, forklifts, and pallet jacks, preferred Previous material handling and HAZMAT experience Benefits: We’re committed to taking care of you and your family, today and in the future.
