About The Position

NewsNation is a national news cable network currently reaching 75 million television households across the United States. The network is owned and operated by Nexstar Media Group (NXST). NewsNation is currently searching for a part-time Director for our local and national newscasts and opinion programs, based in our new DC studios.

Requirements

• Must have in-depth knowledge of studio and remote broadcasting technology including switchers, steadicam and robotic cameras, servers and graphics systems.
• Five plus (5+) years’ directing/technical directing experience in professional live broadcast television required
• Must work well in a collaborative team environment, be able to multitask.
• A problem solver and quick thinker to troubleshoot existing issues and to find work arounds when needed.
• Working knowledge of common business software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Must be a self-starter and take initiative.
• All day parts (mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays) may be a part of the schedule with overtime as situations demand.

Nice To Haves

• ENPS experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field preferred.
• Please be prepared to share current references and reels (with director's track).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with newscast producers to understand the content, tone, structure and pace of newscasts.
• Lead on-air talent, technicians, stage crew, and floor directors to execute a clean and dynamic show.
• Add creativity and bring ideas that enhance the final product, coordinating with the News and Creative Services departments to maximize the use of our studio and graphics elements.
