We seek an exceptional individual to join our College Centralized IT team as the Broadcast Engineer. The Broadcast Engineer is responsible for the technical requirements of the television, radio, and multimedia facilities from design, installation, and maintenance of equipment and servers to delivery of signals to the head-end and throughout the campus at Cal State Fullerton. Provides technical expertise and engineering support for a wide range of equipment, including broadcasting cameras, video switchers, playback and streaming servers, video recorders, editing devices, video walls, and video production wiring. Additionally, the Broadcast Engineer delivers broadcast and multimedia engineering services as part of the Division of Information Technology’s service portfolio, supporting the Titan Communications team, College of Communications, and campus community in support of academic, administrative, and campus-wide initiatives. The Broadcast Engineer's role involves the upkeep and maintenance of the head-end and campus Cable / Radio Frequency (RF) / Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems. This includes regular inspections, troubleshooting, and coordination for repairs or upgrades. Assist in maintaining and upgrading radio station equipment, which includes analog and digital audio equipment, audio playback servers, and video streaming. The individual in this role will assist with engineering tasks related to remote multi-camera productions and live event video streaming. Works closely with the production team to ensure smooth execution and high-quality delivery, handling equipment setup, troubleshooting, and maintaining the video stream. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to three years of progressively responsible experience as a broadcast engineer, including all phases of operation and maintenance of multi-camera digital and analog television production and post-production facilities and studios and broadcast studios.
  • The necessary background to perform this work is normally attained through a college degree program in a related field or a combination of technical training and experience.
  • Knowledge of analysis of video and audio signals and systems utilizing tests and measurements.
  • Working knowledge of fiber-optic, RF cable, satellite, and microwave; data networking including data basics, network architecture and media, transmission techniques, public networks, testing, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Video over IP.
  • Knowledge of H.323 videoconferencing.
  • Familiarity with videoconferencing systems.
  • Must also be familiar with ISSN and V.35 formats and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of video conference bridges, public switched networks, local area networks including switches, routes, and gatekeepers.
  • General understanding of single and multimedia fiber and related equipment.
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment.
  • CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information.
  • Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
  • A valid California driver’s license.
