About The Position

Bronchoscopy Therapist - Endoscopy - St. Francis Downtown POSITION SUMMARY Responsible for the overall operation and maintenance of the Bronchoscopy Lab. Coordinates, assists, performs and evaluates a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director and the Director of Respiratory Care. Provides clinical training during employee orientation, the competency workshop and retraining as indicated.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA school for respiratory therapists.
  • Current license as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in South Carolina required and registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (CRT).
  • Current BLS card with ACLS certification required for full and part-time employees within three months of hire.
  • Must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
  • Must be able to put into practice excellent customer service skills with our patients, families and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all respiratory therapeutic procedures, diagnostic testing and complete related documentation according to department policy, procedure, and protocols.
  • Provide individualized respiratory care to patients, in a manner that supports their privacy, dignity, and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory guidelines (OSHA, DHEC, CLIA, JCAHO) and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Resolve technical problems and ensure that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory’s performance specifications.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of supplies and see to prompt equipment repairs.
  • Ensure all respiratory staff demonstrate competency in performing test procedures and reporting test results promptly and proficiently.
  • Demonstrate administrative and technical competence in all areas of responsibility.
  • Observe and maintain staff compliance with all infection control practices to reduce the risk of nosocomial infections in patients, employees and visitors.
  • Maintain clinical and professional competency requirements per policy.
  • Attend 80% of staff meetings, attends supervisor meetings as possible, and participates on various interdisciplinary committees as requested.
