About The Position

The mission of the Kentucky Energy & Environment Cabinet (EEC) is to improve the quality of life for all Kentuckians by protecting our land, air, and water resources by utilizing our natural resources in an environmentally conscientious manner. By joining the Division of Financial Management/Budget Branch in Franklin county, you will have the opportunity to work with a wide variety of agencies impacting the lives of citizens within the Commonwealth. These agencies include the Division of Forestry, Division of Water, Division of Abandoned Mine Lands, and many other vital agencies within the Cabinet serving citizens. The Budget Branch is in a centralized office serving the entire Cabinet. Responsibilities include providing financial oversight for the Cabinet, monitoring revenues and expenditures, analyzing trends, approving documents out of eMARS, compiling agency biennial budget requests, establishing annual operating budgets, and meeting with agency leadership to recommend fiscal policy. Desired candidates possess the following requisite skills or experience applicable to the position: Budgeting, financial analysis, accounting, or applicable experience. Proficient in Excel. Analytical thinking and strong communication skills. Working knowledge of eMARS and KBUD are preferred. Requirements

  • Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
  • Three years of professional experience in budget administration, financial analysis and/or forecasting, statistical analysis, accounting, financial auditing, or a related field.
  • Professional experience in budget administration, financial analysis and/or forecasting, statistics, accounting, financial auditing, planning, or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Budgeting, financial analysis, accounting, or applicable experience.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Analytical thinking and strong communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of eMARS and KBUD are preferred.
