About The Position

Athena Engineering is a small-business with a long history - 40 years of history to be exact! We're a contractor specializing in Mechanical HVAC and building automation systems. To be clear - we're not a PLC contractor and we don't do process automation - our systems automate a building's HVAC, security, access-control, and energy management. We install systems like this for hospitals, commercial buildings, laboratories, entertainment venues, theme parks, public buildings and other exciting places throughout Southern California. This is an entry-level position for an individual that loves building things and then making them smart. You'll use your technical knowledge and fancy new engineering degree for building automation project design, material selection, and development of sequence of operation. You've got to be GREAT with computers and have an understanding of computer-operated systems and engineering design tools (e.g. AutoCAD, VISIO, EDS). The person who takes this job has an interest in construction, specifically smart buildings, mechanical HVAC, and electrical systems. You've seen construction drawings and can grasp mechanical concepts. You also understand basic programming languages, but don't want to become a computer software programmer. You'll be primarily office based, but there will definitely be points in time when you will be on site for on-site evaluations, pre-engineering, commissioning, and training.
