Join the Facilities Operations and Maintenance team, a highly responsive and knowledgeable crew providing outstanding service for Facilities Services and to the university community. Maintenance Operations, a branch of the Facilities Operations and Maintenance Division, provides comprehensive maintenance services in support of the University’s operations. Our teams provide a comprehensive array of qualified services, backed by our licensed and certified technicians, to this end, we offer opportunities for continuing education, as well as various stipends for additional trade licenses. This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code §51.215. Applications will be reviewed online by the hiring department. This is a 40 Hour Work Week Schedule; current opening is 7am-3pm, with days rotating to include some weekends. Purpose Provide journey level technical skills associated with monitoring the campus wide Building Automation System (BAS) from a central campus control room. Evaluate the BAS alarms and determine a response and resolution. This position also serves as the after-hours call center for all campus maintenance issues and provides emergency dispatch of personnel.

Requirements

  • Diploma (High School) or GED.
  • Three years of experience with HVAC equipment and operation.
  • Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Record information and communicate effectively.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
  • More than three years experience of the required qualifications.
  • Experience at the University of Texas or in a university setting.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the campus Building Automation System (BAS) for proper operation of building mechanical systems and respond to alarm conditions.
  • Analyzes computer generated and phoned‐in facility related problems, prioritizes and coordinates proper responses.
  • Handles normal and emergency phone calls as the after-hours call center. Dispatches technicians as needed. On occasion will need to be able to respond to crisis situations.
  • Creates accurate UT Works Service Requests.
  • Provides timely and courteous customer service, keeps supervisors up to date on daily work order status to ensure clear, concise, and necessary communication channels are maintained and customer expectations are met. Works in a professional manner. Communicates effectively with customers to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Performs work independently from written or verbal instructions and in accordance with established operating procedures to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Analyzes operating difficulties with building systems using troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques to identify equipment related issues.
  • Collects building automation system data. Runs reports, maintains historical logs, and software databases. Programs building automation equipment for routine and event-driven facility equipment schedules.
