About The Position

The Building Engineer serves as the lead technical authority responsible for overseeing the reliable operation, maintenance, and optimization of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems across Siemens Energy multi-site facilities (commercial office, warehouse, and production spaces) in Central Florida. This role handles all facility-related matters, including troubleshooting, investigation, repair, and vendor management throughout the sites; performs troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and repairs for all commercial systems; manages completion and follow-up for reactive on-demand work orders; upkeeps attic stock inventory; reports findings to the Site Manager on improvements; walks facilities to create proactive work orders; refines existing procedures as needed to adapt to changing landscapes; plans, estimates, and schedules preventive and corrective maintenance activities; administers the CMMS system for work order management; procures materials; troubleshoots complex failures; supports energy conservation initiatives; and ensures all work is performed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with operational standards while minimizing impact on production and facility activities.

Requirements

  • Preferred seven years direct experience in commercial building operations and maintenance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and technical school certification.
  • Strong applied knowledge of commercial HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems and equipment.
  • Strong functional knowledge of basic general maintenance, i.e. light carpentry, painting, minor electrical, locksmithing.
  • Proven ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, diagrams, etc.
  • Previous experience in planner / scheduler role.
  • Good computer navigation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Handles all facility-related matters, including comprehensive troubleshooting, investigation, and repair of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems.
  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs for all commercial systems.
  • Manages completion and follow-up for all reactive on-demand work orders, ensuring timely resolution and documentation in the CMMS system.
  • Conducts regular facility walks to identify issues, create proactive work orders, and report findings to the Site Manager on potential improvements.
  • Manages vendor relationships throughout the sites, including coordination, oversight of subcontractor work, performance evaluation, and ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Plans and schedules the execution of maintenance tasks with minimal impact on production activities.
  • Assists in procuring all materials required for the Maintenance department.
  • Assists crafts and manager with troubleshooting complex failures and executing corrective actions in the field.
  • Closes out maintenance work orders in the CMMS work order system.
  • Interfaces with Production staff, Facility Manager, and Site Manager in scheduling work tasks with minimal impact on production activities.
  • Generates purchase requisitions and schedules the maintenance activities being performed by subcontractors.
  • Receives trouble calls, generates work orders, plans/schedules the work, and performs on-demand repairs and emergency responses as required.
  • Ensures safe working conditions are being maintained in areas under his/her care and takes corrective action when notified of any safety violations.
  • Maintains upkeep of attic stock inventory, ensuring availability and organization of spare parts and materials.
  • Refines existing procedures as needed to keep up with changes in the operational landscape.
