About The Position

Under the close supervision of an administrative superior, performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled cleaning and building construction, alteration, landscaping, maintenance, and repair work.

Requirements

  • Education: High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Experience: One (1) year of experience involving manual skills related to Building Construction, Alteration, Maintenance, and Repair Work.
  • Working knowledge of the standard methods, practices, tools, and materials used in a variety of building maintenance functions.
  • Skilled in the use of motorized vehicles and equipment, including dump truck, pickup truck, utility truck, snow removal equipment, pumps, compressors, sanders, generators, common hand and power tools, shovels, wrenches, detection devices, mobile radio, phone.
  • Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, and the general public.
  • Must be on call 24 hours a day; must have a telephone.
  • Must be adaptable to changing work hours as shift hours may be varied.
  • Working days would include weekends, and holidays; and working hours could include early mornings and late nights.
  • Service workers are required to be on holiday and weekend checks.
  • Must pass State exam to obtain licensure, if required.
  • Due to the nature of this position, the successful candidate may be required to complete a pre-employment background check prior to starting the position.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of semi-skilled and unskilled painting, carpentry, plastering, masonry, plumbing, metal work, electrical, mechanical maintenance, and related work.
  • Hangs doors, lays flooring, installs partitions and drop ceilings, repairs door closures and performs other carpentry work.
  • Repairs faucets, unstops clogged lines and performs other plumbing work.
  • Installs and replaces light fixtures, outlets, bulbs, fuses, and performs other electrical work.
  • Maintains and repairs locks, appliances, boilers, pneumatic controls, heating and refrigeration systems and related mechanical devices; monitors gauges and adjusts controls on equipment.
  • Paints and redecorates walls, woodwork, furniture, and fixtures.
  • Welds, brazes, solders, and cuts material using oxy-acetylene and electric welding equipment to repair existing structures or in the construction of new facilities.
  • Operates equipment and tools used in maintenance and repair work.
  • Operates equipment used for landscaping: riding lawn mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, edgers.
  • Operates snow removal vehicles: trucks with plows, ATVs with plows, and snow blowers.
  • Clean and maintain bathrooms, clean up trash before during and after events.
  • Staging of events, taking events down, tractor driving - arena prep, as well as during events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
