About The Position

This is a working supervisor responsible for leading and supervising the Bulk Yard crew, ensuring a safe work environment and efficient movement of freight.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Five years of previous Yard experience, at least three years in the transportation industry
  • 1-2 years of heavy equipment and forklift experience required
  • Strong problem solving skills to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • High level of attention detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills
  • Must be self-motivated and outcome focused, with developed decision making skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, active listening and relationship building skills
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel, and basic know of transportation computer based systems
  • Treats people with respect; keeps commitments, inspires the trust of others, works with integrity and ethically, upholds organizational values
  • Basic math skills for load planning and rigging
  • Knowledge and experience with rigging and craning
  • Ability to prioritize work throughout the day

Nice To Haves

  • Three years of supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate safely and in compliance with all established HSSE policies and procedures
  • Ensures securement compliance with TOTE Policy, DOT regulations, company policy, and all applicable local, state, and federal laws
  • Ensures safe and accurate loading, securement and labeling of customer freight
  • Oversees yard traffic and appointment scheduling
  • Schedules yard labor, approves timesheets and PTO requests
  • Administer performance reviews, disciplinary meetings and actions in coordination with Human Resources
  • Manages the growth and success of the team by providing guidance and direction, mentoring, professional development and training
  • Maintain open and effective communication with other departments and managers, proactively mitigating issues and concerns
  • Field incoming calls and emails, responding appropriately and timely to internal/external customer inquiries
  • Ensures equipment is well maintained and in good working order
  • Performs weekly yard checks to ensure equipment count is accurate
  • Perform other duties as assigned
