About The Position

The Press Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of industrial presses and furnaces to manufacture high-quality steel fittings according to detailed job specifications. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality within a high-volume production environment. The operator will also assist with machine setup, routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and production documentation.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating a press or similar industrial manufacturing equipment
  • Prior forklift certification or ability to obtain
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and job specifications
  • Proficiency using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, scales)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Commitment to quality and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 lbs
  • Prolonged standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Ability to work in hot industrial environments
  • Must be able to wear required PPE for extended periods

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture steel fittings to precise job specifications and blueprints
  • Operate and control industrial presses and associated furnaces
  • Set up machines, including changing and organizing press tooling based on production schedules
  • Monitor press performance and production output
  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor mechanical or operational issues
  • Assist with routine machine maintenance and upkeep
  • Support lockout/tagout and safe equipment handling procedures as needed
  • Conduct inspections using micrometers, calipers, and scales
  • Verify dimensions and tolerances meet job requirements
  • Document production and inspection results accurately
  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move materials and finished goods
  • Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area
  • Assist with daily press operations in the absence of the Lead Press Operator
  • Support production flow and team efficiency as needed
