The following duties are normal for this position. Drives passenger mini bus on an assigned route to transport passengers between County facilities and other designated locations in a safe and courteous manner. Ensures safe loading and unloading of passengers, including operation of specialized equipment for passengers with special needs such as wheelchairs. Assists individuals with physical and/or mental disabilities, ensuring passenger safety. Communicates with passengers, providing information and responding to inquiries. Consults with Supervisor on a regular basis concerning schedule and route. Performs pre- and post-trip bus inspection to ensure proper operating conditions, cleanliness of vehicle, and compliance with safety standards. Performs basic vehicle maintenance service, such as checking fluid levels, and makes minor repairs to vehicle as needed. Reports any equipment malfunctions or potential problems with vehicle and coordinates with Fleet Maintenance for preventative maintenance and repair. Provides written and verbal reports to document incidents, including accident reports and repair requests. Responds to emergency situations involving passengers or other vehicles for the purpose of maintaining passenger safety. Communicates with supervisor, employees, other departments, the public, and other individuals as needed to coordinate work activities, review status of work, exchange information, or resolve problems; and communicates via telephone and/or two-way radio.
