About The Position

This position will provide key stakeholders, at all levels, with reports and business analysis of required data, consistent with the long-term goals and strategy set by the Department of Neurology and the hospital by performing routine daily or monthly tasks related to the financial operation of the Department and analyses to determine present and future financial performance. Under direction of the Finance Manager and Administrative Director, this position assists the department management in identifying, establishing, implementing, and monitoring business and financial related processes that contribute to the successful operations of BMC. The Business Analyst provides direct support on high profile projects designed to reinforce the hospital’s strategic goals and increase operational efficiencies. In performing this role, the Business Analyst gathers and analyses data; interprets results using a variety of techniques, ranging from simple data aggregation via statistical analysis to complex data mining, working directly with client areas and project and business leaders to identify analytical requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent combination of formal education and experience) is required.
  • At least one year experience in finance, accounting, medical billing or related field is required.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology ICD9 & 10 codes, DRGs and CPT4 codes.
  • Strong analytical skills, accuracy and very detail-oriented focus.
  • Excellent organizational skills, proven ability to manage complex projects
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Requisite poise, judgment, and trustworthiness to represent BMC to internal and external groups.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and web browsers.
  • Ability to maintain strict protocols of all confidential or sensitive information.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SQL and statistical analysis tools a plus.

Responsibilities

  • At the request of and under the direction of the Financial Manger or Administrative Director, analyzes financial information detailing revenue, and expenses, and other reports from both BMC and BU systems to summarize current and projected financial position of the clinical practices.
  • Ensures consistency and accuracy of assigned reporting tasks
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement, develop solutions and documents processes requiring change, or where new processes need to be developed.
  • Interacts with client areas and providers for the purpose of promoting the clinical quality improvement agenda.
  • Recommends financial reporting system changes that will enable clinical areas to improve their use of the systems/reports.
  • Performs Accounts Payable functions for the Department in both the BU and BMC systems, including: Process and track faculty/staff/fellow/resident reimbursements, invoices, PO. Process and track Weymouth related invoices and payments. Deposit department checks; complete Cash Log entries. Prepare monthly AP reports for BMC - AMEX, Cashlog deposits, BRM revenue for Braintree Encompass.
  • Performs Neurology provider time away system and on-call system operation and maintenance functions, including: Inpatient Schedules data entry into Ximble, BMC Intranet Process faculty leave requests - PTO, non-PTO, sick. Keep inpatient schedules current, coordinate swaps, and ensure accuracy for Call Center/clinic visibility. Update Ximble with inpatient coverage schedules and time-off requests. Update Neurology on-call schedule on intranet.
  • Attends meetings and performs ad hoc duties as assigned by either the Finance Manager or Administrative Director for Neurology
  • Engages in requested and on-going training and knowledge expansion to be able perform selected duties of the Neurology Finance Manager in their absence or at their direction, including the maintenance and updating of operational and financial dashboard routinely prepared by the Department.
