RSM’s Center for Advanced Tax Technology (“CATT”) is a fast-paced, high-energy, collaborative environment that also happens to be one of the fastest growing tax practice groups at RSM. The CATT team is focused on enhancing RSM US and global ability to deliver comprehensive, value-added, and efficient Tax products and services to our clients. It is a dynamic team with professionals of varying backgrounds from tax functional, tax technical, technology development, and product management. The team consults and executes on a wide range of initiatives involving process and tool development and implementation including training development, engagement management, tool design, and implementation. JOB SUMMARY The CATT Business Analyst works with Product Owner, Process Owners, Process Business Analysts, and Developers to design, development, deploy and perform ongoing maintenance activities for our custom-developed software that is used by internal RSM partners and staff as well as external clients to drive long-term scalability and sustainability of the business for a competitive advantage. To execute their area of responsibility, this role collaborates with staff, product teams, IT, other functional areas within the broader RSM firm, and field offices to ensure we achieve the vision cohesively and effectively. The ideal candidate will have strong data analytics capabilities, a continuous improvement mindset, and a deep passion for the digital transformational journey.

Requirements

• Requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (preference given to Business or Technology or Accounting major).
• Certification of Capability in Business Analysis or equivalent experience.
• Requires effective AI language prompting skills involving the ability to construct, refine, and optimize queries for Large Language Models (LLMs) and to generate precise, relevant, and high-quality outputs.
• Requires a minimum of five (5) years of professional analyst experience.
• Understanding of Agile development methodologies (required).
• Is highly technical, but still able to bridge the gap between business stakeholders and communicate well.
• Is passionate about understanding the client’s needs.
• Thrives in ambiguity, working across multiple organizational stakeholders.
• Creative, out-of-the-box thinker and problem-solving experience to assess, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues.
• Excellent analytical skills, extraordinary attention to detail, and ability to present recommendations to business teams based on trends, patterns, and modern best practices.
• Passion for technology and providing exceptional experiences both internally for our employees and externally for clients and prospects.
• Bias to action, and know-how to succeed in ambiguity.
• Ability to deliver value consistently by delivering on-time and seeking assistance when a blocker is encountered.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledgeable in the use of Application integration APIs
• SQL queries and cloud native application knowledge are plusses (but not required)
• Prior public accounting experience with mid to large size firm(s) or other professional services experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the Product Owner to prioritize technical and functional requirements and maintenance of the product roadmap.
• Identifies what the business wants and works with the team to determine what's feasible to deliver (adherence to firm policies and standards).
• Understands pieces of the business capability to understand potential process redesign opportunities.
• Defines, documents, and communicates requirements in work items for product development team (epics, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria).
• Organizes, models, and specifies requirements with the appropriate level of detail given complexity, risk, and audience; represent requirements using alternative views (ex. models/diagrams) where appropriate.
• Participates and champions all agile/scrum ceremonies (or adherence to Kanban principles)
• Monitors sprint burndown charts to know when to ramp up/down the team to drive quality and velocity over time.
• Use generative AI models to write acceptance criteria, perform standard business analyst functions, and turn high level features into detailed users stories
