About The Position

The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife is seeking a talented Business Data Analytics Specialist to join our Division of Licensing and Registration. In this role, you will take the lead in overseeing and maintaining the Department’s deer and moose lottery database system—an essential component of supporting safe, responsible, and enjoyable outdoor recreation opportunities for all. The primary focus of this position is to oversee and maintain the deer and moose lottery databases. This will include learning the intricate details of the deer and moose lottery databases. This position will collaborate with MaineIT to resolve system issues and implement enhancements based on management directives or legislative changes. This role also includes responsibility for managing or assisting with data collection, data entry and the preparation of reports for data related requests. This position will also be required to become familiar with the Department’s licensing and registration system, MOSES. Work is performed under limited supervision.

Requirements

A six (6) year combination of education, training, and/or professional experience in project management, systems analysis, business analysis, program specialty, or related field.

Preferences will be given to candidates with experience with database management and knowledge of relational database design.

Responsibilities

Learn and maintain expertise in deer and moose lottery databases and permit systems.
Assist with updates, testing, and validation of the permit purchase and lottery application processes.
Monitor system performance and key dates for lottery drawings and permit sales.
Generate reports and provide data exports to internal and external stakeholders.
Analyze agency operations, user needs, and service delivery to develop and implement process improvements.
Identify opportunities to increase operational efficiency and enhance customer experience.
Support project management tasks, including collecting data, maintaining schedules, and monitoring budgets and resources.
Recommend and implement changes to agency operations, provider services, internal policies, and organizational structures to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
