About The Position

The Smilist partners with high-quality dentists who want to focus on delivering exceptional patient care while relying on an experienced partner for business management and growth. The company has grown rapidly through a combination of strategic practice affiliations, de novo development, and organic growth, and continues to expand its footprint across the northeast. We are seeking a Business Development Analyst to join our M&A team. This role will work directly with senior leadership on sourcing, evaluating, and executing partnerships with dental practices. The position offers significant exposure to transaction execution, financial modeling, and strategic growth initiatives in a dynamic healthcare services environment. The analyst will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Business Development and will work cross-functionally with finance, legal, operations, HR, and marketing teams throughout the transaction lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in Investment banking, Private equity, Transaction advisory, Corporate development / M&A, corporate finance
  • Strong interest in healthcare services
  • Excel skills are paramount. Advanced financial modeling and analytical ability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear presentations
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to take ownership
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to be hands-on
  • Intellectual curiosity and desire to understand the operational drivers of a business
  • Ability to translate analytical insights into actionable recommendations
  • Collaborative approach when working across departments
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial statements and operational data from prospective partner practices
  • Build and maintain financial models to evaluate potential affiliations
  • Conduct business and operational analysis of dental practices
  • Prepare investment memos, valuation analysis, and transaction summaries
  • Support the structuring of affiliation proposals and offer documents
  • Coordinate diligence processes for potential affiliations
  • Work closely with internal teams including finance, legal, operations, HR, and marketing to advance transactions toward closing
  • Assist in preparing presentations and materials for internal decision-making
  • Help manage transaction timelines and ensure efficient execution
  • Help identify and research potential affiliation opportunities
  • Support outreach and relationship development with prospective partner practices
  • Maintain and optimize the company’s CRM system and deal pipeline
  • Track key metrics and activity to support business development efforts
  • Assist in coordinating internal teams during the transition of newly affiliated practices
  • Support initiatives that help integrate new partner practices into the Smilist platform
